During normal lapses of insanity…

A thought on the Gulf.

I had this dream this morning…it was awesome. A murder mystery that was so deep and involved that it took everyone from CSI, Eleventh Hour, and Supernatural to stop the killer.

And it occurred to me. What the hell are all the other oil companies doing to help? Are they helping to dig these relief wells? Wouldn’t they be able to help with manpower?

There are so many people out of work right now that the oil companies are putting political pressure on lifting the moratorium before revisions to drilling safety policies are met out. In essence this would allow everyone to act as if NOTHING had ever happened. This little rant isn’t about who’s fault this is. Everyone laying this at the feet of the government needs to stop. This was caused by a company that has a proven track record for flat-out ignoring safety policies on drilling rigs. They cut corners and this is what they got for it…a woefully tragic event that will likely be killing most of the sea life in the gulf and beyond for years…not months.

Back to manpower. So…BP says the relief well is still more than a month out…but what if other oil companies are helping? I mean, Exxon probably want to get back to business right? the UAE has already offered their top people to come and help. Also, I cant help but think that the effort put forth could use some serious brainpower and manpower from ALL the oil companies, I mean…since BP is already footing the bill right? You want them to get on the ball? When they are having to pay their competitors to come in and help, I think maybe this would encourage some serious ass-kicking…anyone?

…anyhow that’s a thought and it just popped in my head and I wanted to voice it.

Dear Viacom…

This is no longer about right and wrong for you…it is obviously about who you can squeeze for extra cash.

Because Google provides the world with more good in a day than you’re entire conglomerate pulls off in a year.

You want to make Google responsible for copyright infringement on content they are not responsible for…even within the scope of the law.

By your own argument, the internet is also responsible, since that is the true medium upon which the content is distributed and demonstrated.

By your own argument, the world is responsible for showing clips of your content…to itself.

By your own argument, you’re a hypocritical entity that is exploiting DMCA in order to recoup fictitious profits that cannot be proven in any court.

By your own argument, you are basically one very big retarded company that spends more money suing people than it does helping people.

I might not be logical. Hell I might not even be lawful. But that doesn’t stop me from being right.

The DMCA needs to go the way of the dodo so that the industry can reinvent itself and evolve, rather than prolong what it has already demonstrated clearly as the inevitable dissolution of a market you(Viacom) never fully had the grasp to contemplate.

I dislike you even more because there is a big gaping mountain of oil in the gulf and I am distracted enough to write about your lame claim that Google is responsible for policing YOUR content.

Lame.

Dang ol’ internet.

At times like these…I have to ask myself, “What would Cheshire Cat do?”

It seems my cable modem isn’t worthy and is dropping >50% packets in and out. This makes for a very frustrated Tony.

Yeah, my internet went down, and for about a day I completely forgot I had long since prepared for this eventuality and invested in very helpful wireless technologies that would allow me to carry on, even after Time Warner couldn’t.

Anyhow, I wanted to let everyone know I am about to rapid-fire out the three posts I was originally procrastinating about but can now blame the ISP for. 😉

Thanks for the patience guys….and if you’re wondering where the Cheshire Cat comment comes in…the very first thing I see when I turn on my computer is this:
