The Fall of Outlook…

Sounds really deep and mystifying right? Well…it isn’t.

I have been a HUGE Outlook fan for ages, I had so much functionality in it and have been using the same email cache for ages….essentially…since Outlook came out.

Unfortunately…I am done with it. For the fourth time in 8 years or so, Outlook has again decided that it doesnt want to download my mail from a very intact and safe and well-oiled pop server. Not only that, but it goes so far as to actually test out fine on all pop and smtp tests. Nothing wrong with firewalls and my ISP isnt doing anything hokey like automatically disabling smtp.

Simply put…it refuses to download from any pop server….but there is a light at the end of this tunnel!

..It’s name is Thunderbird. This awesome free software doesn’t flip out and dump old email, it doesn’t crash, and best of all it will import every fricking thing in outlook with like ZERO hassle. It will use newsgroups and RSS feeds (awesome way to get news and answers to virtually everything known), it’s secure, and most importantly it doesnt have 400 megs of extras and bullshit to slow down my computer to a dead crawl while operating.

So my dear Outlook, it’s been great…but you’re out…
