Everyone whoever thought they had stick (on the ice or off)…you need to read about this guy.
Mark Demontis is doing something different. I think it’s more than a statement..I think it’s more like a proclamation…and a standard of ambition and strength any of us could draw from. Watch the video…
…and then remind yourself…this guy is blind.
I’ve always held that living blind is akin to living without most the prejudices we are all exposed to (or taught). The problem therein, is that in a society that teaches us that the blind are disabled, they teach the blind that as well…enabling a disability that I have seen first-hand that wouldn’t have impaired without having been told “You can’t see. You can’t XXXX.”
It’s a crock of shit. One of my closest and dearest friends is blind. He is blind and he and his wife are raising a beautiful child. Their perseverance in this is a true testament to ability…as I know plenty of parent that can see that could do to learn from them. In this I applaud Mark Demontis. He’s a guy with something to say, and something to demonstrate to us all that we should definitely see and think about.
Mark’s website is http://www.couragecanada.ca. I would definitely recommend checking it out, and donate if you can.
K….got letters to write…check him out people and be well.

I bring with me the attention span of a spastic monkey, combined with all the charm and finesse of a charging rhino…and I just might think the world is better for it.
