TonyTown Hold No Virtue Dancing With Death

About Dancing with Death…

Ten years ago…

TonyTown Hold No Virtue Dancing With DeathI think it would be fun to get all these experiences down for people to read for once. I have danced with that guy riding a pale horse, and think I might be able to provide some real-world experience for you peeps. So essentially I am going to write a blog short/essay about all my wonderful experiences with death. Joy eh?

When I say I have need my life flash before my eyes, I wasn’t meaning like one or two times. My dances with ol’ grim started when I was 5 and haven’t stopped yet. Hopefully I remember enough detail about all of them to get everything detailed legibly for everyone, but we’ll see.

Until then…enjoy!!!

I’ve got to sleep sometime…

NOT FUNNY

NOT FUNNY

Must…sleep…

But then I remembered this one time where Rob (Loki) and I were hanging out with Elizabeth and we were so so far from sober, and Rob asked me what is was like to be wise….and I answered that wisdom was for the long-lived, meaning that I wasn’t on the list…and he responded by looking at me, and saying, “Tony, you’re always going to be our ancient Wyrm of wisdom.” The three of us laughed. The moniker caught on a bit.

Elizabeth died two months later…of Leukemia I think, I found a bottle to crawl under for a couple years…

This may be the worst run of insomnia I’ve had in a long time. I am actually getting sleep, but it’s been impossible for me to wind down until the wee hours…and even then i have to write a bit and then read a bit to get my mind wound down.

I suppose that’s a perk then, eh? I get to stretch some literary muscles and speak about random shit to an audience of wonderful nothingness that is the internet.

Today was such a killer awesome day though, I am sure thats why I am still thinking a million miles an hour. Added to plotlines for the book(s)…added two more canvases I’d like to finish before old ages prevents me from getting around to it…added more to-do’s to the video game whiteboard…talked with my mom about all the crap I have to do in order to hire contractors/employees for my upcoming projects (she’s my own personal wyrm of wisdom, to coin Rob’s phrase).

Time to try for a night of sleep…

Schrödinger’s Cat jokes might not be funny anymore, or they might be…

schrodinger-catYaknow… Schrödinger’s Cat jokes used to be the type of thing us nerdy types would mention and joke about and see who among us made “the cut.” Now…it’s on memes and tshirts and such.

I mention this because it occurs to me that the demographic that was inclined to know this 20 years ago is in no way shape or form similar to the group of people familiar with the experiment today. Quite the opposite, and despite the fact that information and education are becoming more available exponentially every day, the average IQ globally has been falling, and those of us more inclined and/or dedicated to scholastic endeavors find ourselves surrounded by a demographic that can only be quantified by their ability to Google their data rather than experience it.

Why experiment when someone else has already made a video of it?

To me this is like saying why should I sing when there are so many other people that sing better? In my opinion it’s lazy thinking.

Don’t get me wrong, sensationalizing human intellect has given elevation to those of us that would have had to otherwise either be a successful politician, athlete, or entertainer. It’s given smart people the motivation and self-respect to continue rather than elect to conform or worse…act as if they hadn’t the intellect.

The fist time I saw a Schrödinger’s Cat tshirt I thought it was the most awesome thing since relativity…now, I see kids that don’t even know who Schrodinger was wearing the shirt because they saw it on the Big Bang Theory, and thus I am presented with the irony of the situation and the foundation of tonight’s ponderous issue…

It seems that at least on some level, it’s become more attractive to people to act like a nerd rather than to actually be one, and it makes my arse twitch.

Be better.
